World's Smallest FPS

I was reading the latest issue Computer Gaming World when I came across an article for the world's smallest first-person shooter. It's called .kkrieger, made by a group called .theprodukkt. The actual game is only a 96k executable file.

They plan to release it in chapters, and the first chapter is still in beta, so it is very buggy. It also requires a relatively high-end machine to run properly. I would have liked to try the game, but it kept crashing while loading; a problem they are aware of. They plan to release a version with extra content and bug fixes "in late July or early August," so I plan on checking back regularly so that I can actually see the game in action.

Anyway, if you would like to learn more about .kkrieger, or the technology behind it, then head on over to theprodukkt.com. They also have some screenshots of the game that look pretty damn good. Here are two:

New Doom3 Trailer

Gamespot has a new Doom3 trailer. It shows a bit more of the story/set-up.

There's a high-quality one at FileShack, and mirrors of it at FileRush.

ESPN: NFL 2K5

I'd first like to say that, when it comes to football games, I prefer Madden; it has been my number 1 choice for years, and it never fails to impress. However, having heard good things, I decided that I would give NFL 2K5 a try. I was not disappointed.

The graphics are solid, the music is great and the controls are very intuitive. Not too long after I began playing I received a phone call from David Arquette in my "Crib" challenging me to a game. I accepted. For the entire first half of the game I was getting beat real bad. I was getting really pissed off, but then I came back strong in the second half and won. It was one of the best moments I've had in a video game in a long time.

Speaking about the Crib; there is a ton of things to unlock for it by completing certain tasks within the game (think EASports Bio). You can customize nearly every aspect of it. You can even buy barlights, sofas and posters of your favorite NFL teams and players. Then there is Franchise mode, it's not as deep as Madden, but it's so fun it's hard to notice. The options you have at your disposal range from standard Contract Negotiations to running drills and watching game footage of upcoming opponents (though you don't get to actually see them watching it). Not happy with your team's performance last game? Let them know it by chewing them out! This game was definitely worth the purchase.

However, if you still want Madden, it will be in stores in 12 days.

Disgaea Episode 1: FINISHED

So, I've just completed the first episode of Disgaea. I decided to explore the plot. Highlight to read.

I killed the Sassy Demon(Vyer) and regained the throne - I am indeed the heir. Anyway, I just found out my partner Etna is being mean and planning against me. Meanwhile, God is trying to assassinate me via an Angel Trainee who wants to be a ninja. She sneaks around squeaking "Nin. nin!" She told me she was there to assassinate me, realized she was a clutz and escaped to the Frozen Realm - walking right past this creepy monster thing that was too lazy to move from his spot.

The dialogue to this game is hilarious. Some parts are so sarcastic I almost cry I'm laughing so hard.

Anyway, yours truly,

the new kid....

There are two games that I've been playing: Aura: Fate of the Ages and Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.

Aura is kinda like Myst. So far I've been pretty intrigued. Working through the first stage. Some of the cutscenes are neat graphics wise. Also, the puzzles haven't been overly hard. This game is no Ripper (Christopher Walken in a video game--can you really beat that?).

So, on to Disgaea: I love it.

I just sit here making new characters and leveling up my characters. I don't even care advancing in the game, I just have a fun time killing stuff.

The battle system is a square grid, similar to some old nintendo games like "Ultima: Exodus," but it's pretty rad. I'm still on the first map but like I said, instead of moving on, I'm just leveling up. The dialogue is a little cheesy, but it works and is very funny at times.

Definitely if you are up for a good game to keep you busy, check it out. It's like 160 hours long.

Also, I've been playing FFXI still and occasionally Tribes 2 (you can download it free and legally here). I suck.

Anyway, I'm going back to being a waste of life. Ciao.

Bloodlines

Five videos of the upcoming RPG Vampire: Bloodlines. It's based on HL2's Source Engine. Looks pretty nifty.  Pause the first one and read the "History" options. Also, is it just me, or does the woman flash a titty?

Speed Runs

There is a large collection (73 at the moment) of speed runs here. Some of them are pretty interesting to watch.

Now here is a picture of spider. It makes me think of you.

Cat Shit

I just watched the trailers for the upcoming Catwoman game, basically for the sole purpose of making fun of it. I wasn't disappointed.

In this game, you can:

Walk through a hail of gunfire in an absurdly slinky manner;
Run up a sheer wall exactly the way a cat wouldn't;
Play of Prince of Persia.

But maybe I'm judging this game unfairly, as I've not actually played it.
